The sun is the most natural source of heat.
More than half of the sun's radiation energy reaches Earth in the form of infrared light, which extends from the nominal red edge of the visible spectrum as frequencies decline from 430 THz to 300 GHz while the wavelengths go up from 0,75 to 1000 microns.0.75
The most effective and the safest method for at home warming is to use the FIR (Far-Infrared Rays) part of the Sun spectrum.
Of course in summer you may simply sunbathe to heat up your body but in addition to FIR Infrared you will also get a big part of ultraviolet (UV) light part of the sun spectrum.
UV is beneficial in small dosage as it is associated with vitamin D production. But if overexposure takes place, UV light can cause burns and in the longterm serious skin problems.
Radiant type of heating with stones and crystals is based on the usage of Infrared (IR) Light the healthiest part of invisible sun light that transfers only the heat without any harmful radiation or ultraviolet (UV) rays.
FIR saunas and hot stone mats provide only FIR light without the harmful UV part of the sun spectrum. They are widely spread now and Far Infrared is commonly used worldwide.
Hot stones naturally releases FIR rays without use of any infrared lamps. Amethyst and other gemstones emit FIR even if you lie on the unpowered mat and warm it up with the heat of your own body.
The process of electrical heating the gemstones in your mat also generates the FIR light. Natural Amethyst crystals convert heat energy into penetrating far infrared rays.
Higher temperature settings provide more far infrared rays emission by the gemstones. But even at low and medium levels (2-5) with warm temperatures such as 98°F-133°F or 37°C-56°C, you will still get the benefits of far infrared.
Infrared light is a low temperature and emission free source of deep impact heat with lower frequency and longer wavelengths than those of visible light and higher frequency and shorter wavelengths than those of microwaves.
Industrial standards usually define FIR, MIR and NIR types of infrared light:
- Far-Infrared Rays (FIR) are those with frequencies from 300 GHz to 37 THz and wavelengths from 8 to 1000 microns. Far-infrared rays are the most distant from the visible light but they are the nearest to the microwave rays famous for the deepest heat transferring.
- Mid-Infrared Rays (MIR) are those with frequencies from 37 to 214 THz and wavelengths from 1,4 to 8 microns.
- Near-Infrared Rays (NIR) are those with frequencies from 214 to 430 THz and wavelengths from 0,75 to 1,4 microns. Near-infrared rays are so called because they are the nearest to visible light in the spectrum.
Though the Near-Infrared Rays are the most powerful and the human body normally radiates at medium MIR wavelengths in the range between 2 and 10 microns, the Far-Infrared rays with longer waves are absorbed more efficiently through inducing the changes in the molecular vibrational state.
FIR heat is also better detected and felt by our body than NIR so the risk of overheat is much lower.
INFRA-RED HEAT EMISSION BY EREADA® MATS
Ereada® Amethyst Mat naturally releases without infrared lamps but using the warmed gemstones both FIR and MIR heat in the so called "bio resonance" best utilized wave range 4-16 microns with 2-3 times deeper impact than that of the traditional infra read saunas with carbon heating panels.

INFRA-RED HEAT EMISSION BY NON POWERED AMETHYST BIO PILLOW
In non-powered mode Amethyst mats and Amethyst Pillows do not work like conventional FIR heating pads.
The deep FIR emission from the non-powered mats and pillows is activated by the human body natural heat.
It is much less intensive and more delicate and natural than that of electric powered mats. By placing the Amethyst Mat or Ereada® Pillow against your body you are allowing the Far-Infrared rays to reach an optimal temperature absorbed by your body.
But if necessary you may achieve higher intensity of infrared emission by preheating the Amethyst mats or pillows by the sun beams like it was done in the ancient times.
The tests showed: 90,7% Far-infrared Emissivity with Emission Power as: 3.66 x 10² W/m².
